$150 for a permanent account. Normally $25 a year. So the payoff starts after six years. I've had my LJ for three years. Knowing the rate of change of technology, I'm not sure I'll still be using LJ in six years.
Well, if you're a usericon whore (which you don't appear to be) then it's nice because you get a bunch more icons. You can buy more icons for $10/year, and if take advantage of that it makes the payoff good after 4 years. Past that? I'm not so sure. Possible benefits in the future, but nothing more concrete. In fact, I originally noted on this post that my birthday is in two weeks but just took it off because I'm not sure it's all that worth it for me. However, the other argument for getting one is that it supports the guys doing LiveJournal and I think this is a pretty nifty site and worth supporting. I'm leaning towards not getting one, though.
You're welcome! :) That was an incredible restaurant, I'm so going back there whenever I'm in the area. I'm glad to hear the 60-character LARP went off so successfully, too! Sounds like the late nights were all worth it, congrats on a job well done. :)
